What a great idea!

Last night, my husband and I were watching television when a preview of the new sitcom, Parks and Rec, came on. It's made by the producers of The Office, and stars Amy Poehler. My husband works for a city parks and rec department, so he's interested to see it. All of a sudden, he blurts out "They should make a show about pharmacy!" I agreed wholeheartedly - it would be funny, but give the public an education at the same time.
Now if only I knew a screenwriter and a big TV producer...

Now that would be a comedy. Sadly however, I feel that most of the troublesome patients who make the show funny may not get the humor of their actions and not learn anything, but it sure would be a good laugh for those who work in pharmacy.

I have to agree with Wisrx7. We would laugh knowingly, but the viewing public would say, "That's not funny! Why can't that woman get her Vicodin 3 weeks early?"

I am trying to see what part of pharmacy would be funny anymore. Lines of irritated sick people yelling at the pharmacist who is hungry, tired and probably hasn't gone to the bathroom all day. The problem about stories of the incredibly stupid in a sitcom is that these incredibly stupid people never recognize themselves.

Of course the producers would never make a pharmacy "real". they would have a pharmacy that has probably 6-7 people "working" in it all day. they would never actually fill more than 2-3 prescriptions per episodes. they'd spend most of their day with witty interchanges with eachother and their imaginary customers. They'd have one stiff shirted pharmacist who has no life. The second pharmacist would be a high heeled bimbo who altered her white coat to be tighter than a swimsuit who honestly wouldn't know the difference between clonzepam and clonidine. The 4-5 techs would be cute, witty, and all the customers would be either everybody's favorite or quirky eccentrics. Nobody ever stomps off mad.

a few degrees off reality, where the tech calls in sick because her baby sitter is hung over or her deadbeat boyfriend gave her a black eye. The other tech is pissed because her husband just got canned because he failed a drug test, and her teen age son got suspended from school for fighting. one customer is banging on the counter at one end because somebody hasn't waited on him yet. The pharmacist is on the phone with tech support cuz the printer just crashed. The line is growing at the checkout because Mrs Jones wants to speak to the pharmacist NOW and won't move.

Who wants to watch that?

You know, it kinda makes you wonder if people had the same reactions when the Parks and Recreation employee said they should make a tv show about his/her job.

I do not work in a pharmacy, but I have been reading posts about it and I would definitely watch the show.
